The new political season of the Grand Council and the Valais government began on Monday during the constitutive session in Sion.
For this legislature 2025-2029, the 130 parliamentarians elected last March approved the composition of the Council of State and appointed the socialist Patricia Constantin to the presidency of the Grand Council.
The deputies also appointed two low Valaisans to the key roles of the Parliament of the old country. The UDC Fulliérain Jérôme Desmeules accesses the presidency of the justice commission and the Collombeyroud Plr Thomas Birbaum takes the lead of the finance committee.
Elected for two years, the Chablaisian intends to represent the interests of the region within the most influential body of the Grand Council, in particular concerning the third correction of the Rhône.

This year, the Valais political landscape has renewed itself and there are many novices to the deputation. Like the Socialist of Evionnaz Emilie Teixeira who is committed for the first time to the Grand Council as a deputy. Between two votes, she took the time to share her enthusiasm for our microphone.
The 130 new Valais deputies will meet in Sion from May 5 to 9 for the first parliamentary session of the new Grand Council.
