After an attempt in August in 2024, the Grand Prix Motocross in Switzerland is held again this year during the Pascal weekend, on April 19 and 21. Still in Frauenfeld, in the canton of Thurgovie.
The holding of this major sporting event in the middle of summer last year did not prevent the rain from disturbing part of the trials and races (read our report).
The pilots of the MXGP and MX2 categories of the Motocross World Cup a few days ago in the deep sand of the Riola Sardo circuit in Sardinia, (read our article), and more recently on the ground of the Ciclamino track, in Trentin (Pietramurata, North of Italy).
In MXGP, the Slovenian Tim Gajser, Honda factory pilot and already five times world champion, is currently at the top of the championship, in front of the French Roman Febvre (Kawasaki). The two men are among the favorites for the Motocross Grand Prix of Switzerland.
The Swiss Jeremy Seewer, who passed this year from Kawasaki to Ducati (a brand that has entered Motocross Mondial), and as a premises in the stage, it will again be keen to outdo itself in Frauenfeld. Last year, he finished at the foot of the podium.
His two compatriots Valentin Guillod (Independent pilot, Yamaha) and Kevin Brumann (private Mxhandel team, Husqvarna) will of course be present in MXGP. And the same for Mike Gwerder (HTS KTM Racing Team), which will drive as usual in MX2, and for whom it will be the second Grand Prix this season.
The Vaudois Arnaud Tonus (Yamaha), defending Swiss champion and former MXGP, will also be on the track, as in 2024. And there will most likely be other Helvetians on the ranks, the registration period being still open.
Some of the Swiss or foreign pilots participating in this Grand Prix Motocross in Switzerland will already be visible this Wednesday in Combremont-le-Petit (VD), on the famous MX Payerne circuit, for training. And the show is free!
