In SaaS Grund, electric current and the telephone network returned after about 24 hours of cut. Ironically in history in this Pascale period, electricity even returned in the midst of the Friday’s celebration in the village church.
“Suddenly, around 4:15 pm, in full prayer, the light was on. The moment was magical, almost mystical … We heard an ‘phew’ from the hundred people present that day,” said a RTS journalist present during the celebration.
The population of this Haut-Valais station very close to SaaS Fee is certainly used to small power cuts, which occur once or twice a year. The road is also regularly blocked. But to be at this point cut off from the world, without a phone and without being able to warn loved ones, it had never happened, told RTS several inhabitants.

The Talkie-Walkie, the last means of communication
During the last 24 hours, life has first organized with a smile, then less and less over time, faced with difficulties: more bancomat to withdraw cash, the only way to pay anything, more heating, more means of cooking other than with a stove …
Even more worrying, in addition to the population, even the authorities and firefighters had no way to communicate, the polycom emergency system is also out of service on Friday morning. All day long, the only contact that the staff could have went through Talkie-Walkie, and only with the other villages in the valley, no further.
