This Monday, April 14, 2025, a new class for teaching the Albanian language was officially opened in the premises of the HLB school (Hinterleisbach) in Buchrain, in the canton of Lucerne. This class is part of the “Shkolla Shqipe” network (Albanian school) in Switzerland. Twelve students, accompanied by their parents and teachers, attended this first course in an atmosphere full of emotion and pride.
This initiative, which is spreading more and more through the Swiss cantons, is the fruit of the hard work of the Albanian community and the commitment of institutions working for the preservation of the language and national identity in diaspora. Parents have expressed their gratitude to the organizers and, in particular, to the “Shkolla Shqipe in Switzerland” which makes possible the learning of the mother tongue, even for children born and raised far from the country of origin, reports Albinfo.ch.
The inauguration of the class was marked by various activities: the children recited poems, sung of songs and responded in Albanians, thus creating, for a moment, the typical atmosphere of a classroom in Albania or Kosovo. This moment was particularly moving for the parents present, who followed the lesson and received information on the organization of the class.
-Teacher Lumnije Klinaku-Nneziri expressed her particular gratitude towards Vaxhid Sejdiu for her administrative support and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in order to extend the teaching of the Albanian in the canton of Lucerne.
During this meeting, the new teacher Festina Bërynaj was also presented. She provides lessons with this group and is committed to working with dedication to help students preserve and develop their mother tongue.
Classes take place every Monday, from 5.30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. until the end of the 2024/2025 school year in July.
