Christian Horner responded to McLaren F1 and Zak Brown, saying “that there will always be questions” Now that the stable dominates F1, the allegation concerning the tires cooled by water having resurfaced.
During the weekend of the Miami Grand Prix, the CEO of McLaren, Zak Brown, drank in a bottle of water labeled “tire water”, a barely veiled allusion to the allegations of Red Bull according to which McLaren could use water to cool his tires, a practice prohibited by the technical regulations.
FIA and Pirelli insisted that such use of water would be easily detectable. And The FIA has even in -investigated the whole cooling system of the MCL39 brakes, without finding anything in Miami.
“Listen, in Formula 1, there will always be questions,” Answers Horner when Brown invited him to pay for official complaints from the FIA rather than pouring out in the press (to read here).
“McLaren did exactly the same with the front suspension of our car last year. It is therefore inevitable that, when we drive in mind, as for several years, we have been more monitored.”
-“It is the essence of Formula 1, and in many ways, it is difficult for the FIA, because all the teams carry out most of the work. Their resources are much more important and a constant analysis of the competition is carried out by all the teams.”
“It is the essence of Formula 1, it is important to understand that McLaren has the most efficient car and that it benefits from the same advantage as us a few years ago. So McLaren will have the pressure on the legality of what they are doing, it makes sense.”
“They do a very good temperature management work, especially on tires, especially in Mimia, where they were probably the most competitive.”
“This is what we have to focus on, we have brake problems that have worsened the problem in the race, but that’s what we have to understand to move forward.”
