A fault on the goals conceded in Lyon (2-2) last Thursday, André Onana has not been spared since this round of the Europa League. The Manchester United goalkeeper undergoes many criticisms and mockery. In his country, some see it as a real plot against the Cameroonian.
Dirty week for André Onana. Designated as one of the worst guards in the history of Manchester United, the Cameroonian agreed to Nemanja Matic with his two errors against Olympique Lyonnais last Thursday. Three days later, the manager of the Red Devils Ruben Amorim considered it necessary to leave him outside the group to face Newcastle (4-1 defeat). It must be said that the former Nerazzurro has become the target of many criticisms and mockery denounced by the National Union of Cameroonian footballers (Synafoc).
« Synafoc observes with concern that, for almost 72 hours, a real manhunt has been launched on social networks against Mr. André Onana. The Synafoc vehemently denounces these excessive behaviors and words on the part of petty individuals who have transformed into a guaranteereacted the union which evokes harassment as well as psychological and moral violence. (…) Synafoc therefore calls each other more restraint. To real Cameroonian football fans, he asked to provide all their support to this son of the country who highly bears the colors of Cameroon abroad. »
André Onana’s situation is a lot of talk in her country. So much so that the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) is accused of carrying out a plot against her goalkeeper. The president of the instance Samuel Eto’o, in cold with the porter trained at FC Barcelona, would have paid journalist Fabrizio Romano to fuel critics. Shocked, the Fecafoot was quick to deny via its communication manager Jean Marie Nkoussa Nkoussa.
The Cameroonian federation defends herself
« André Onana has club worries like all professional footballers at one time or the other of their careershe recalled. At the start of the season it was Mbappé’s turn. I have never read only the FFF pays journalists to dirty it. Here with us, small minds, animated by the permanent search for the conflict to satisfy their small human interests, propagate within opinion the idea that Fecafoot would maintain a cabal – which is moreover abject – against one of its best ambassadors, an ambassador of Cameroon. A time will come when the masks will fall. Everything has an end. It is in this funny context that the Mancunian could regain his place during the quarter return from the Europa League against Lyon on Thursday.
