The Northampton club has filmed the reactions of its four players, including the new prodigy of English rugby only 20 years old, when they were announced with the British and Irish lions.
If so much needed, the UBB is warned. The Champions Cup final against the saints of Northampton, on May 24 in Cardiff, will not be a sinecure. The English club will thus present itself with four players selected this Thursday, to be part of the prestigious team of the British and Irish lions: the scrum half Alex Mitchell, the end of Smith, the winger Tommy Freeman and the new nugget of English rugby, Henry Pollock.
On the images revealed on social networks by Northampton, we see the prodigy exploding with joy before being celebrated by his teammates of saints. A scene that reproduces identically to the announcement of the names of the three other players selected by Andy Farrell.
At 20 and 114 days, Henry Pollock is not the youngest lion in history, however. This record still belongs to the Irishman David Hewitt, selected in 1959 at the age of 20 and 60 days, followed by the Welsh winger Louis Rees-Zammit, in 2021 (20 years and 93 days).
Everywhere else, from Edinburgh to Gloucester via the plane taking the Welsh Ospreys to South Africa, these are the same scenes of joy and pride for the players named among the 38 lions.
