Bassirou Diomaye Faye magnifies the contribution of the Church to peace and the development of African countries

Dakar, May 6 (APS) – The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, praised the “essential” and “irreplaceable” contribution of the Catholic Church to peace and the development of African countries.

“Your reflection today will focus our world on the construction of a synodal and autonomous church in the service of justice and peace in West Africa. This brings me to underline the essential and irreplaceable contribution of the Church to the development of our countries,” said the Head of state to the opening of the fifth assembly of the episcopal conference united in West Africa (Cerao).

Faced with the college of 150 bishops from all over West Africa, President Faye noted the church’s commitment to education, vocational training and consolidation of values, which “form our living together and our common destiny”, positioning itself in ” safe and unavoidable ally of the State ‘.

The Head of State declared on behalf of his government, a privileged recipient of the conclusions emanating from this general meeting, count on them in the development of priority public policies.

Its mission will be “to support religious, Muslim, Christian communities and traditional religions in the exercise of their worship while developing religious information, infrastructure and religious equipment”.
