The Israeli army said on Monday that it had led a series of air strikes against the Yemeni port of Hodeïdah in the aftermath of the shot which targeted the Ben-Gourion aerorport, near Tel Aviv.
The army said in a statement that it has attacked what it called “terrorist” targets of the Houthis in Hodeidah and its surroundings.
“The attack was conducted in response to the repeated attacks by the terrorist regime Houthi against the State of Israel, during which soil-to-ground missiles and unmanned planes were launched against the territory of the State and its citizens,” the statement said.
More than ten strikes targeted the port of Hodeidah and the districts of Al Salakhanah and Al Hawak in the city of Hodeidah, five inhabitants told Reuters. Four strikes also targeted a cement plant east of Hodeidah.
The port is the second in the Red Sea after that of Aden and constitutes the entry point of around 80 % of food imports in Yemen.
