The general manager of the Geneva Institution for Home Holding (IMAD) Marie Da Roxa decided to retire early and will leave her duties on December 31, the establishment said in a statement on Monday. Marie Da Roxa has been at the head of the Imad since 2010.
“After 40 years of professional activity in demanding positions, I would like to benefit from time to devote myself to personal projects,” notes Marie Da Roxa, quoted in the press release. The Geneva State Councilor Pierre Maudet salutes, for his part, “the exceptional commitment” of the director general in favor of the staff and patients of the IMAD.
According to the press release, Marie Da Roxa “played a decisive role in the organizational transformation” of the IMAD. It has also enabled the development of domiciliary expertise “in an environment in full demographic, societal and technological change”.
Controversial
Marie Da Roxa’s remuneration had been at the center of a litigation last year. The Geneva Council of State then criticized the manager for having received 170,000 francs in compensation outside the legal framework. It had received 60,000 francs for 2023, in addition to its annual salary of 290,000 francs, as well as 50,000 and 60,000 francs in retroactive purposes for 2021 and 2022.
These compensation had been justified by the new tasks that the director general of the IMAD had to endorse. However, the law wants the granting of compensation arising from new tasks to be accomplished is the responsibility of the Council of State and not of the board of directors of the institution.
The cantonal executive had required the reimbursement of these sums. An agreement was finally reached last November. The cantonal executive had specified that “the too paid following the decisions taken by the previous board of directors of the IMAD was going to be compensated by the institution in the year 2024”.
