Three prizes in a few weeks, and perhaps a fourth to come! The Emissium start-up, based on the Energypolis campus and accompanied by the incubator of The Ark, combines international awards. After having won at the end of March the prize for the best Pitch from Start Global in Saint-Gall (500,000 euros at the key) then, in mid-April the ABB Startup Challenge, she has just won the Prix for Best Pitch at the Swissnex Bootcamp in San Francisco. Finalist of the South 2025 Prize, she could soon hang a new award for her application which makes business consumption visible.
Emissium participated in a trip to the San Francisco Bay region, organized by Innosuisse and managed by Swissnex in San Francisco. She was accompanied by six other start-ups, including Mobyfly, Valais too. “This intensive bootcamp has been designed to help Swiss start-ups wish to immerse themselves in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem of the United States and establish strategic relationships for their future growth on the continent,” notes Rafael Castro-Amoedo, co-founder of Emissium. “This trip ended in style with our winning pitch during the Pitch Night in front of an audience of more than 100 guests, including investors, start-up founders and American market experts.”
The young sedun company has been able to present its vision, which consists in providing all companies with electrical data in order to help them make smarter and more sustainable energy decisions while reducing their operational costs. “What we build in Europe with Emissium is not only relevant, but also necessary in the United States. This trip has confirmed that our mission is global and that companies around the world should start implementing energy management solutions, ”says Rafael Castro-Amoedo.
ABB also rewarded
At mid-April, Emissium also won the ABB Startup Challenge 2025 in the Smart Power category. This competition, organized by the global company ABB and supported by Synerleap and Microsoft was held in Bilbao. Rafael Castro-Amoedo and Ángela Oropesa Román, Emissium Coo, were on site to present Emissium.
-This price marks the start of a six -month collaboration with ABB. This will allow Emissium to give life to its idea, and thus help energy distributors to deal with the growing complexity of the network by more intelligently using electricity data.
In addition to their success to the Start Global from Saint-Gall at the end of March (see our article here), Emissium is in the final of the South Prix, organized by time (see our article here). The young Valais shoot seems unstoppable at the start of the year. The proof that the theme of data related to energy is really crucial for a large number of actors in Switzerland and in the world. So let’s bet that this is only the start for the start-up, born in the Laboratories of the EPFL Valais and Professor François Maréchal.
