The weather is still stormy this Wednesday, April 16. The alerts have shifted to the western departments.

The weather is agitated this week in France. Since Monday, April 14, these bad weather has been characterized by heavy rains, which can take a stormy character. The Southeast is particularly affected. The accumulation of rains have already been substantial, particularly in Ardèche with up to 175mm over the last 48 hours. Météo France thus places no less than 42 departments in yellow vigilance from 6 am for the first alerts and until midnight this Wednesday, April 16.

On all alerts, around twenty concerns the risk of thunderstorms, which shifted from east to west. The following departments are thus concerned: Finistère, Côtes-d’Armor, Morbihan, Ille-et-Vilaine, Manche, Sarthe, Maine-et-Loire, Deux-Sèvres, Indre-et-Loire, Vienne, Loir-et-Cher, Indre, Charente, Haute-Vienne, Creuse, Dordogne, Corrèze, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Hérault and Gard. On this Aquitaine coast, showers are generalized in all regions in the south of the Loire in the afternoon as well as in Brittany and take on a stormy character.

19 Departments are also placed in a vigilance yellow rain-rummage, but this time more concentrated in the Southeast: Doubs, Jura, Saône-et-Loire, Loire, Rhône, Ain, Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Isère, Drôme, Ardèche, Haute-Loire, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Var, Alpes-Maritimes and Corsica-du-Sud. This rainy disturbance will linger all day with significant accumulation in Rhône-Alpes and in the east of the PACA. The snow will also be back on the Pyrenees above 1200 meters and around 1000 meters in the Alps.

The storm episode should end this Thursday. However, rain will be persistent towards the southeast with another ten departments in a vigilance yellow rain-innon. Time will improve to the west with the return of thinning.

Yellow vigilance is the second level out of four of the Météo France meteorological vigilance scale (green, yellow, orange and red). The yellow level signals weather phenomena which, even if that can be locally dangerous, do not have major risks for the population. However, we must remain vigilant, especially in the face of the risk of localized floods.
