Despite the pain, Sigrid Haugset therefore managed to get back on time, finishing 12 minutes from Pauline Ferrand-Prévot. “With hindsight, it was probably not the best idea to continue, but at the same time, we do not know how serious the injury is,” the 26 -year -old cycling said on Monday, from the hospital where she had just spent a second night. “And it’s Roubaix, so I wanted to go to the end.”

Sigrid Haugset fell on a short paved part, in the Orchy sector. To see the Vélodrome, she had to suffer twelve paved sectors, for almost 18 kilometers. “If someone had told me to stop me, I would probably have done it,” she admitted .. “But I don’t have the ability to say to myself ‘is enough’. In the race, we want to finish.”
Professional since 2023, Sigrid Haugset may remember its first Paris-Roubaix. “I did the rest of the seating race, mainly using the strength of my left leg,” she said. “My body produced a lot of adrenaline, I was caffeine, everything that could help me feel better.”
Unable to stand up, Sigris Haugset had to rely on the healer of his team to go down. According to the first diagnosis, his convalescence is estimated at six weeks. She hopes to be able to resume competition by the end of June, in order to participate in her national championship.
