One year in prison for the driver responsible for a fatal accident involving a pedestrian in Pristina

The Pristina court of first instance made a guilt of guilt against YB, sentenced it to one year in prison and an additional two -year driving ban, for having caused an accident on February 1 of last year, in which a pedestrian died.

According to the indictment filed on July 17, 2024 by the prosecution of Pristina, the accused On February 26, 2024, in the street “Agim Ramadani” in Prishtina, negligence at the wheel of her vehicle, she acted in violation of article 53 of the LRTRR, so that by not adjusting the speed during the half-circle turn, by not ensuring that such a action could constitute a danger not only for itself, but also for other road users and not having the conduct of the vehicle, She did not take the necessary arc for a secure turn safe.

The indictment stipulates that by turning around, seeing the danger, it slows down suddenly and cannot stop, continues until it crosses the sidewalk and the cycle path, then continues until the front of the vehicle strikes the traffic light post which is adjacent to pedestrian crossing, at that time the traffic light has been inclined and, consequently, the upper part of the vehicle Sh.H., at the head, which at that time was held on the pedestrian crossing near the traffic light, in order to cross the road. Following the accident, the pedestrian underwent serious bodily injuries leading to his death at the scene of the accident.

For these acts, the accused was charged with the criminal offense “Endangering public traffic” of article 370, al.9 in connection with al. 6 and par. 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo. /Oath for justice
