This morning brought Meryame Kitirboard member of the King Baudouin Foundation (KBS), a visit to Noorderhart. She came to get acquainted with one Innovative approach in addiction care that is applied in Noorderhart. The project, which was selected by the King Baudouin Foundation in 2023, is strongly committed to the power of experiential experts and integrated cooperation.
Rik Verroken, Chief doctor Noorderhart: “The approach came about after a call from initiators, who wanted to help start an alternative way of working around addiction in North Limburg. Noorderhart did not hesitate for a moment and submitted a project application to the foundation. The central objective? It is part of a series of five projects that stimulate a new view of psychiatric care, with special attention to customization and user experience.
Rik Veroken: “In just six months, the psychiatric department (PAAZ) of Noorderhart already guided 46 people through this new methodology – an impact that more than exceeded the expectations and equaled the original model from the Kempen.”
The visit of Meryame Kitir underlines confidence in this Limburg initiative and is an important step towards further rollout in other hospitals in the region. Together they want to set course for warm, people -oriented and sustainable addiction care. The project is also a collaboration of six local authorities (Pelt, Lommel, Peer, Hechtel-Eksel, Hamont-Achel, Bocholt) via/and Welzijnsregio Limburg, Integra, CAW Limburg, the GP association, AA, Noorderhart and addiction dome vzw.
