Updates in Miami: Red Bull is focusing on Verstappen, six teams develop their single -seaters

Six teams have brought updates for the Miami Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2025 season. Red Bull is distinguished with an evolution of its floor on the maximum single -seater, while Aston , Mercedes, Alpine, Williams and Sauber also introduced modifications.

Red Bull: Optimizing aerodynamic support

Unsurprisingly, the Austrian stable continues its methodical development. The RB21 receives a revised floor, mainly in terms of fences and edge. These changes, far from being revolutionary, seek to grab some aerodynamic support points while preserving the stability of the car.

“These developments will bring a measurable gain in terms of performance”confirmed Monaghan, the chief engineer of Red Bull, visibly satisfied with the simulations made in Milton Keynes.
However, only Max Verstappen has this update, his teammate Yuki Tsunoda will have to for the old specification.

Mercedes: a rear fin suitable for the circuit

On the side of Brackley, we chose a more specific approach to the Florida route. The W16 has a rear spoiler whose flap profile has been changed to reduce the outcry. The objective is to slightly reduce support and drag to gain top speed on the endless Miami straight lines, where the single -seaters borders on 340 km/h.

This development aims to strengthen the balance that the German team has been pursuing since the start of the season.

Aston Martin: Three aerodynamic adjustments

Aston Martin has brought three developments: a spoiler, a rear wing and a lower aileron. The front fin adopts a less aggressive profile, while the rear fin has a reduced front area with a more conservative drawing. As for the lower fin, it goes to a mono-element configuration, less greedy in support but more efficient.

These modifications, specifically designed for the Miami circuit, aim to improve the overall balance of the car while reducing its air resistance. A technical bet that could be paid on this hybrid route combining quick sections and technical sequences.

Alpine: Improve air flow and cooling

The team, in difficulty since the start of the season, tries to straighten the bar with targeted developments. ENSTONE engineers saw the front brake ducts and the geometry of the front suspension.

These modifications aim to optimize the local air flow and to improve the cooling of the brakes, often put to the test on this urban circuit. The front suspension has been fully reproduced to adapt to these changes, with the hope of improving the quality of the flow around the front wheels, a critical area for aerodynamic performance.

Williams and Sauber: minor adjustments

With more limited resources, Williams has opted for a new less than shorter wing, a simple adjustment option to reduce support and drag. A practical and economical solution, perfectly suited to the long straight lines of the Floridian circuit.

SAUBER, on the other hand, was content to modify the fairings of its front suspension, seeking to optimize the air flows along its car which is still struggling to leave the bottom of the grid.

New engines for several teams

No less than eleven pilots have new elements of the propellant group. McLaren equipped its two pilots, Piastri and Norris, with a new internal combustion engine (ICE), while Mercedes did the same for Russell and the Rookie Antonelli. At Aston Martin, Stroll and Alonso also receive their second unit of the season. Williams is no exception to the rule with Albon and Sainz, just like Sauber with Hülkenberg and the Bortoleto. On the Haas side, only Ocon has a new Ferrari block.

These changes do not only concern the heat engine. All these pilots also have a new turbocharger (TC), a new MGU-H (thermal energy recovery unit) and a new MGU-K (kinetic energy recovery unit). Same observation for exhaust systems, with the notable difference that it is already in its third unit.

In addition, Alonso has also replaced its energy storage (ES) and its control electronics (EC) after the Sprint race on Saturday, two components limited to only two copies per season according to article 28.2 of the regulation.
