Originally from Florida, he had undergone a serious leg injury in his last university match with Florida State against North Alabama, November 18, 2023.
Unfortunately, despite more than a year of rehabilitation, the former Seminoles player could not recover as he hoped. After consultations with doctors, specialists and his agent, Travis decided to withdraw from American football, ending a professional career that will never really have started. In an official statement, he explained that this difficult decision was essential, despite all his efforts.
“On November 18, 2023, my life took an unexpected turning point. I gave everything during rehabilitation but despite my efforts, my leg never answered as we hoped. After many prayers and consultations with doctors, specialists and my agent, I received the medical advice to end my career in sport that I love so much. »»
Although he suffered from this leg injury, Travis had declared himself for the Draft NFL 2024 and had been selected in the fifth round by the jets. On July 27, 2024, he was placed on the list of injuries not linked to football, continuing his rehabilitation.
Elected player of the year 2023 of the AC, Travis also took advantage of this announcement to thank all those who supported it during this difficult course. He expressed his gratitude to his family, friends, coaches, teammates and the organization of New York Jets.
Jordan Travis’ university career
Even if he never had the opportunity to play at professional level despite his NFL selection, Jordan Travis had a good university career, spanning six seasons from 2018 to 2023. He started with the Louisville Cardinals in 2018 before joining Florida State in 2019.
Having become a holder in 2020, he led the Seminoles to a record of 29 victories for 10 defeats on four seasons, including a perfect season (11-0) in 2023. In total, he ended his university career with 8,693 yards on the pass, 66 touchdowns and 20 interceptions, while adding 1,934 yards and 31 touchdowns on the ground.
After an exceptionalcampaign in 2023, he received the honors of FIRST-Team All-ECC, an attacking player of the year of ACC and player of the year of ACC.
