Tommy Roy’s release investigation, accused of having caused the death of a 17 -year -old teenager in a road in the Granada district on April 25, made it possible to learn more about the circumstances of the drama.

Rouyn-Noranda’s 39-year-old man faces five counts: two leaders for conduct with weakened faculties causing death, flight offense, death threats to peace agents and hinders the of the police.

The crown tried to demonstrate that the accused had to remain incarcerated to ensure the security of the population and to maintain the confidence of the public to the justice.

The prosecutor Jérémie Chaput filed several documents in evidence during the investigation under bond. He believes that the evidence against the accused is overwhelming.

According to information presented in court, the accused consumed the equivalent of a dozen alcoholic drinks in restaurants and bars in Rouyn-Noranda on the evening of April 25. Its blood alcohol level, later measured during its arrest, reached 130 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood, once and a half the allowed.

He would then have taken the wheel before caught a 17-year-old teenager who was traveling on foot on Avenue Granada and would have left the premises without assisting the victim, whose identity is protected by a non-publication order.

According to the crown, the accused would have confess to friends in a group conversation, which led to his arrest later that night.

Still according to the prosecution, Tommy Roy would have resisted his arrest. The police used the Cayenne pepper and the electric discharge pistol during their visit to his home.

Defense lawyer Me William Roy has rather pleaded that the risks of recurrence of his client are weak, in particular because he will no longer have his driver’s license or his car.

Roy me believes that the probabilities of of his client are mixedespecially because of the way certain evidence has been acquired. He notably said that the police would have entered his land without a mandate and took photos of the damaged car with their personal phone.

According to him, the crown will have a lot to do to prove the causal link between alcohol consumption and the road accident.

The accused said he had no alcohol or mental health problems.

The heard the arguments of both parties and will make his decision on morning, whether the accused must be under conditions pending .
