While Patrick Drahi would be ready to sell SFR, some of his competitors have already mandated bankers to study the question of potential repurchase.
According to a Figaro survey last week, Altice would like to get out of telecoms in France and thus sell SFR. According to information from the expansion letter, Orange and Bouygues Telecom are already engaging in large maneuvers.
Laurence Hainault, a banker at Evercore, would work on this file for Orange. On the Bouygues side, it is Grégoire Cherotok, partner-manager of Rothschild & Co and historic banker of the operator who is on the bridge. Without forgetting also the possibility of a foreign actor incorporating the operator, since the management of Etisalat, first operator Emirati and shareholder up to 15% of Vodafone would have “spent a few hours at SFR“.
The SFR sale file is eminently complex for potential repercussions on the telecoms market, between risks of monopoly, duopolies, a complex transfer to one of the other three French operators seems unlikely. A partial assignment would be more possible, but for the time being, nothing is fixed and even the sales project is not formalized. It would not be the first time that a possible consolidation of the French market has ended up in the water.
