Rob Dukes did not expect to return to exodus, but his return marks an intense and creative era for the cult group of Thrash Metal, currently in the studio to record two new albums and soon passing through Hellfest.

An unexpected but explosive return

In an interview with Nikki Blakk of the station 107.7 The BoneRob Dukes said that he had not seen the call from his former exodus companions: “It’s a crazy thing. I didn’t expect it. I didn’t even know I was going to get a phone call.”

Dukes finally accepted after consulting his relatives and colleagues, temporarily putting aside his professional activity outside of music: “Everyone told me to go, that it was an opportunity not to be missed. So I said, ‘Let’s go, let’s have fun.” “

And the atmosphere seems to be beautiful. The ex-Frontman, who had left Exodus in 2014, felt honored to reintegrate the group: “Gary and Tom are incredible. It is a privilege to be part [de ce projet].”

A new breath after the departure of Zetro

This return comes in a transition context. Exodus recently announced that she had separated from Steve “Zetro” Souza, citing a relationship that has become difficult. As Gary Holt summed up: “It was like a wedding finished behind closed doors.” To avoid starting from scratch with a new singer, the members preferred to recall Dukes, with whom they had kept good relations.

Dukes has already taken over the microphone on stage. On April 5, he ensured his first complete concert with Exodus for more than a decade during the Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest in Philadelphia.

Two albums in preparation and a long -awaited tour

Currently, Exodus is in full recording session of two new albums. Dukes describes the songs as “heavy, dark and powerful” with even a few rock touches with the Motörhead: “It’s a little different, but it’s great. It’s a good challenge.”

The group remains faithful to its DNA, while exploring new sound territories. For Dukes, exodus does not look like any other group: “What Gary, Tom and Lee are doing is unique. And there they set the bar very high.”

Fans will soon have the opportunity to judge for themselves. In addition to concerts planned in the United States, Exodus will cross Europe this summer. The group will play in particular:

  • June 20 – Clisson, France – Hellfest
  • June 21 – Aarau, Switzerland – Kiff
