Not only Thunderbolts* is a good surprise in the MCU, but in addition, its second post-generic scene is finally heavy for the future of the saga. ATTENTION SPOILERS !
In February, Marvel offered us Captain America : Brave new world. The film on the new Captain America by Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) was sadly bland and without much interest. And unfortunately for him (and in truth for us too), his post-generic scene was completely useless. Victim of her reshoots, shot in the dark to create an artificial mystery, she only announced what we already knew: the danger happens elsewhere, be afraid, Blabli Blabla.
So we feared the exit of Thunderbolts* Directed by Jake Schreier, supposed to conclude the catastrophic phase 5 of the MCU. What was not our surprise to find the film rather solid, thanks to a story focused on her characters (notably Florence Pugh in Yelena Belova alias Black Widow), readable action scenes and above all an end opening intriguing doors for the future. A hope more or less confirmed by The second post-generic scene, coming out of its mouth-mouth function to finally plant a decor for the future of the saga. Explanations.

In the first post-generic scene (arriving in the middle of the credits), Red Guardian walks on the shelves of a supermarket dressed in civilians. Then, he tries to sell cereals “New Avengers” to a client in a store, who looks at him strangely before moving away very embarrassed by the situation. The scene does not work at all in the comic tone – unless you are a fan of the heavy jokes of Red Guardian – but shows how the Thunderbolts took on major media importance at the end of their adventure by becoming the “New Avengers”.
Indeed, Kevin Feige promised it during the promotion, the asterisk of Thunderbolts* would have an interest once the film is finished. He did not lie since before the launch of the credits, the title Thunderbolts* is displayed on the screen and turns into The New Avengers (Understand therefore “the new Avengers” in French). The credits then shows the distrust and distrust of political, media and civil spheres on this new group and their legitimacy, through newspaper cuts.
Until then, nothing frankly folichon, but this final happily leads to the second post-generic scene, landing at the very end of the credits.
The New Avengers in the place
The sequence lasts almost 3 minutes, which allows you to set up several elements. Thus, it takes place 14 months after the events of the film. The New Avengers have new costumes, they are funded by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine for their various missions and they crèche in the old Avengers tower, bought by the Valentina company in the film Thunderbolts*.
When they land in the scene (Ghost, Yelena, Bucky, Red Guardian and US Agent), we understand that their image always divides the public. Worse still, They are in conflict with Sam Wilson, alias Captain America, apparently very unhappy that they stole the brand “Avengers” With their name from New Avengers. Given this quarrel, we can therefore assume that Sam Wilson has trained his Avengers after Captain America : Brave New World Even if the scene does not reveal to us who composes this new team.
Red Guardian therefore offers, with his humor always so fine, to change their name from New Avengers to New Avengerz with a Z, because apparently it’s fun. In a corner of the room, Bob explains that he would like to help them, but that he cannot summon Sentry without summoning The Void. Inevitably, it is a problem given the power on its dark side and even if it is very brief, it already begins a little better the way Marvel will manage the character, both capable of saving the world and turning against him. Will it be turned over by Doom? Mystery.
Finally, since the start of the post-generic scene, we hear the AI controlling the Avengers tower trying to prevent them from an element entering the earth’s atmosphere. After their discussions explained above, Yelena asks the AI to show the images of the extradimensional vessel in question. Surprise (no): It is that of the fantastic 4, therefore arriving on the earth-199999, that of the reality of the MCU.
The fantastic 4 on the way to the MCU
Obviously, if the New Avengers do not yet know who are in this vessel, the spectators are therefore a while in advance by knowing the logo of the fantastic 4. How did the superheroic quartet of Reed Richards alias Mr Fantastic, Susan Storm alias the invisible woman, Johnny Storm alias the human torch and Ben Grimm alias the thing happened there? This is surely what the film will answer The fantastic 4: first steps.
However, several theories are already flourishing on the internet for a long time, and this post-generic scene of Thunderbolts* could corroborate certain elements. Quite logically, The scene confirms for example that the fantastic 4 come from a parallel universefrom another dimension, and will join the one at the heart of the MCU from the start thanks to a trip to the Multiverse. Their arrival should therefore create a bazaar on the planet, but also allow, in the long term, to the classic heroes of the travel saga between the universes.
Also, another theory could be confirmed. In the trailer of The fantastic 4: first stepsa plan shows a vessel arriving on a planet imploding. What assume that the quartet goes to the planet to save it from super-villains. But according to some fans, this plan would actually be mounted upside down in the trailer and could mean something else: the departure of the fantastic 4 of their own planet Earth, that they would not have managed to save galactus and its silver surfer.
This is why they would therefore land on Earth-199999 to take refuge and probably prevent our superheroes from the imminent arrival of an incredible danger. Suffice to say that This second post-generic scene from Thunderbolts* is of a fairly unprecedented density in the history of the MCU And it feels like Marvel has finally decided to tell an interconnected story between his films.
