It is not certain that the elected environmentalists of the Metropolis Lyonnaise see the opening of the opening, this Friday in Vénissieux (Rhône), of the largest motorcycle village in France, they who keep promoting bicycle in town … Called Mo -Town, it will bring together – all brands are not yet ready – on more than 16,800 m2 the main manufacturers and sellers two-wheelers.
In an economic context which is not necessarily very favorable, the opening of Mo-Town is a commercial challenge. “Today, it is true that the market is much more tense than when the decision was made to make this motorcycle village four years ago,” admits Hervé Bechetoille, manager of Triumph Lyon, one of the first brands to open its doors this Friday. With the already existing offer of the Dardilly motorcycle pole north of the agglomeration, Lyon is now surrounded by two-wheeler concessions.
Harley-Davidson, the big ability
“To create Mo-Town, we were inspired by the Motopark de Montpellier which was entirely thought of for the motorcycle. The idea is to offer a global experience for the biker, ”continues the boss of the Triumph brand. Around a central street and a main place, enthusiasts of beautiful mechanics will find here the workshops and shops of the main brands of the market, except for the American giant Harley-Davidson whose sales are in free fall and which did not wish to invest in the project.
A brasserie with an area of 1,000 m2 will open its doors by summer. A space dedicated on occasion is also in the project. “Beyond the restaurant, the objective is to create a real place of life around the motorcycle, with concerts, artists, street art, etc. For the moment, we are focused on the opening of our concessions, but there will be a lot of entertainment, ”promises Hervé Bechetoille.
