Diversity : During the 16th edition of the summer University to be held from July 5 to 13, 2025, the spotlights will be on the city of Rabat. This university will offer young MRE the opportunity to know closely the potential that is full of this city. It will also allow them to appropriate the history and culture of Morocco. This edition will experience the participation of 300 young MREs whose age is between 18 and 25 years old.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad will organize from July 5 to 13 in Rabat the 16th edition of the Summer University for the benefit of young MRE. This edition will highlight the city of Rabat which, as the Department of MRE specifies, is the first African city to wear the colors of the African Capitals of Culture in 2022, and which welcomed more than 100 cultural and artistic events on this occasion between June 2022 and May 2023. “This university will offer young MRE the opportunity to know the potentials of which is full of this city. It will also allow them to appropriate the history and culture of Morocco, a kingdom which has constituted, over the years, a land of dialogue and coexistence between religions and cultures. Due to its exceptional cultural and linguistic diversity, it is also a model of tolerance and respect for the other, “reports the same source noting that the 16th edition of the Summer University will experience the participation of 300 young MREs, aged between 18 and 25, continuing their studies higher than the various institutes and universities and from several countries of residence around the world. For 9 days, young MREs will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and conferences-debates led by eminent personalities. “These meetings will be crowned by outings and field visits highlighting the various aspects of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region,” notes the same source.
A community proud of its roots
The ministry has set up a cultural offer which tends to meet the needs and expectations of the Moroccan community residing abroad, and which is available in several programs carried out, throughout the year, both in Morocco and in the host countries. “Among these programs is that of cultural universities for young students MRE, whose age is between 18 and 25 years old. This program, launched in 2009, aims to strengthen the national identity of the new generations of MRE and to consolidate their links with their country of origin. It allowed young beneficiaries to discover these assets closely, the richness of its history, its culture and its system of values based on dialogue and tolerance, “explains the same source. It must be said that Moroccans residing abroad have very close links with their country of origin. “The evolution experienced by the Moroccan community established abroad, estimated today for more than 5 million people residing in more than 100 countries, is marked by intergenerational changes and profound changes which have brought out new expectations with young generations, hence the need to work for the identity strengthening of this category of fellow citizens MRE”, indicates the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Moroccans residing abroad. And to add: “Also, the high solicitude of His Majesty the King, may God assist him, towards Moroccans residing abroad was manifested in several speeches. The most recent is that of November 6, 2024, marking a turning point in the governance of the bodies dedicated to the MRE, and which is an extension of that of August 20, 2022, a real roadmap for government action in favor of the MRE ”.
