The first secretary of the USFP, Driss Lachguar, accompanied by Fatiha Saddas, member of the political bureau, took part in the work of the Progressive Alliance conference which was held from April 23 to 26 in the Indian city of Hyderabad.
Placed under the theme “realization of world justice”, this meeting was an opportunity for the Itthadie delegation to have a series of interviews with its counterparts from other countries to debate subjects of various orders.
To this end, Fatiha Saddas participated in the work of the Commission of the Gender and Equality of the Progressive Alliance which deals with the questions of women and gender equality on a global scale. This commission is considered an important platform for the exchange of experiences and the strengthening of progressive women’s rights policies.
It should be recalled that Fatiha Saddas was elected in October 2024 within the highest decision -making body of the world progressive alliance at the Santiago conference (Chile), which testifies to the international confidence in his skills and his commitment to matters of equality and social justice.
During this conference, Driss Lachguar delivered a discourse marked by a daring criticism of the current world situation and a clear vision to reform the global system, while emphasizing the “role of progressive solidarity in the realization of justice guaranteeing human rights and the protection of the environment”.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Ittihadie delegation had meetings with several leaders of the world progressive parties.
In order to strengthen Euro-Maghreb cooperation, the Usfpeist delegation met Zita Gurmai, a figurehead of political activism in Hungary and around the world, a member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2014 and currently president of the Women’s Women’s Section of the European Socialist Party. It is known for its constant commitment in favor of gender equality and women’s rights, and by its significant contributions aimed at strengthening progressive policies in Europe.
The Ittihadie delegation also spoke with Makris Cabrheros, a Philippine activist in the field of human rights and equality, a global coordinator of the Progressive Alliance. It plays a key role in the organization of international events aimed at promoting progressive values and expanding the alliance network to include more parties and organizations in the South.
The delegation also had discussions with Meenakshi Natarajan, a leader of the Indian National Congress, member of the Indian Parliament from 2009 to 2014 and current responsible for the organization of the Indian National Congress in the State of Telangana. It is known for its exceptional organizational skills and has been for many in the success of the logistical aspects of the Hyderabad conference.
The participation of the USFP delegation in the Progressive Alliance Conference highlights the party’s commitment to social justice and gender equality. Just as it confirms its active role in strengthening cooperation between progressive parties worldwide. It also constitutes a diplomatic approach to “strengthen the role of Morocco in parallel diplomacy” and to defend its strategic issues within the progressive international system.
