A new fully redesigned esplanade was inaugurated on Tuesday at Mohammed V airport in Casablanca to fluidify departures and strengthen the quality of service.
This new esplanade, which constitutes an essential lever for improving the airport experience initiated by the “2030 airports” strategy of the National Airport Office (ONDA), will allow travelers to be deposited directly on the 1st floor, to access one of the six dedicated doors according to their airline and to reach their registration counter in less than 2 minutes.
This modernized outdoor space is part of a global transformation dynamic initiated by the airport in recent weeks to streamline departures and improve the quality of service. The renovation work has made it possible to review the roadway, to set up a new marking of the traffic lanes and the drop -off zones, as well as a modernized signage facilitating orientation.
Informative totems have been installed, associating each airline at its access door and leading directly to the dedicated check-in counters. The lighting has also been reinforced, thus ensuring safety and comfort at any time.
In a press statement, the director of Casablanca Mohammed V airport, Hicham Rahil, said that this new configuration aims to fluidify passenger flows at the start and strengthen the quality of service.
“From now on, passengers can be deposited directly on the first floor, at the starting halls, via ten dedicated access distributed between terminals 1 and 2,” he continued. Among the measures already implemented are the abolition of the inspection position at the entrance and that of the double control of passports, replaced by automatic gates, recalled Mr. Rahil, noting that thanks to these devices, travelers can reach their registration counter in less than two minutes after their arrival.

This new esplanade marks a major step in the evolution of the airport experience, by placing the passenger, readability and efficiency at the heart of the device. It also aims to unclog classic access to terminals, to facilitate traffic during periods of strong crowds and to offer a clear and intuitive welcome environment.
In addition, a new organization of road access has been deployed by ONDA to structure flows according to the mode of transport used. A drop-off at level 1 is now accessible to private and taxi vehicles.
The pick-up at level 0, reserved for arrivals, is separated for more fluidity. Passengers using their own vehicle or a rental car can access parking lots.
On March 5, 2025, the entry inspection devices (scanners and gantries) were deleted to unclog access while maintaining the safety standards. On March 15, the double passport control was replaced by automatic gates, reducing boundary deadlines. Since March 30, the airport’s public spaces have been gradually reopened to the accompanying people, making the recording area more welcoming and friendly.
