Under the leadership of Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè from outside Burkina Faso, Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Mali and Bakary Yaou Sangaré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigerians outside Niger, the alliance of the STAs of the Sahel Huge diplomatic success.
Indeed, the three heads of diplomacy of the Alliance had the privilege of being received in person by Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, during a hearing on April 28. The first milestones of cooperation between the AES states and the Cherifian kingdom were laid in Rabat.
The delegation of ministers was led by Abdoulaye Diop, who transmitted to the Sovereign Cherifian the messages of fraternity and friendship of the three presidents of their respective country. Namely the Head of State who provides the presidency of the Confederation AES, the General of the Army Assimi Goïta, president of the transition, head of state of Mali and president of the AES Confederation; Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso, Head of State and General Abdourahamane Tiani, President of Niger, Head of State. They expressed to the king the high assessment of the college of heads of state of the Confederation of States of the Sahel (AES) for the objective and constructive approach of the Kingdom of Morocco towards the political situation of the countries of the AES Confederation and particularly the respectful posture of Morocco based on non-interference in the internal affairs of their countries. The king who is very informed of our sub-region had confirmation by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the AES Confederation of real advances carried out and confederal perspectives drawn in diplomacy, development and defense and security aspects. They also praised the renewed availability of King Mohammed VI to strengthen the relations of his country with the Confederation of the States of the Sahel, within the framework of the South South cooperation of which Morocco is one of the pioneers. What is manifest through the informed guidelines of King Mohammed VI on the royal initiative in favor of the States of the Sahel which, beyond the development of the national economies it will allow in the countries of the region, is part of a dynamic of active solidarity of the Kingdom of Morocco towards brothers with which relations have always been imbued with respect, sincere friendship and fruitful cooperation.
Having taken a good note from the initiative, the ministers reiterated the full membership of the AES Confederation to this royal initiative aimed at facilitating their countries to the Atlantic Ocean. To this end, they stressed that this initiative is consistent with the vision of the heads of state of the AES Confederation, engaged in the improvement of the economic development conditions of their countries, in particular access to the international market.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation of ministers before taking leave expressed his deep gratitude for this hearing that King Mohammed VI was kind enough to grant them. They insisted particularly praised on the quality of listening, the consideration and the wise advice that Mohammed VI gave them.
By their joint press release, they sent their sincere thanks to King Mohammed VI and the people of Morocco for the warm welcome and the hospitality of which they were the object during their stay during the Crans Montana (FCM) forum, April 25, 2025 in Casablanca, under the theme: “Africa’s international trade: maritime security and safety of ports and navigable roads”.
Also, the three ministers carefully noted the specific messages of King Mohammed VI, addressed to their excellence Assimi Goïta, Ibrahim Traoré and Abdourahamane Tiani, whose gratitude of the Cherifian sovereign for the consistency of the positive approach of Morocco within the African Union, by advocating the strengthening of dialogue and maintaining a constructive commitment.
