When religion becomes political weapon

Once again, some so -called “scholars” and “preachers” invite themselves in public debate with incendiary declarations, by diverting religious discourse to serve ideological agendas far removed from the national interest. Their latest release: an alarmist press release accusing Morocco without evidence of having enabled American military ships to Israel to pass through the port of Tangier.

This allegation, as serious as it is infused, is part of a blatant attempt to exploit the Palestinian cause for the purposes of political propaganda and questioning Moroccan sovereignty. No tangible element, no official source has come to corroborate these accusations. This is pure ideological speculation, disguised as moral indignation.

Beyond the falsity of the content, it is the recurring use of the religious lexicon to support subversive speeches that worries. By disguising the verses of the Koran and the prophetic lessons to justify radical positions, these individuals weaken not only national unity, but also threaten the institutional stability of the country.

While Morocco is determining with determination in a dynamic of development, strengthening its economic sovereignty and regional influence, such comments only sow confusion, stir up cleavages and compromise the efforts of attractiveness and investment.

The role of certain media in the dissemination of this campaign is just as problematic. Rather than showing journalistic rigor, these platforms have chosen the sensationalist excitement, amplifying undelicated information and echoing an alarmist rhetoric. A media drift that transforms these channels into active relays of disinformation carrying discord.

Morocco has never failed in its commitment to the Palestinian cause. Constant humanitarian support, tireless diplomatic advocacy, defense of the rights of the Palestinian people on the international scene … The proofs are numerous and indisputable. On the other hand, these “indignant voices” have often been killed when certain Palestinian entities allied with diets openly hostile in Morocco, or remained silent in the face of the threats that weighed on the territorial integrity of the kingdom.

This double discourse betrays an obvious instrumentalization: it is not a question here of defending a cause, but of using it as a lever to attack the Moroccan state.

Faced with this ideological offensive, Morocco affirms its strategic independence and its determination not to be dictated its foreign policy by extremist groups. The kingdom’s institutions, based on historical, religious and popular legitimacy, have no need for validation by those who feed on division and chaos.

The time when religion could be used as a political manipulation instrument is over. Morocco advances, serene in its choices, faithful to its values, and aware of its responsibilities.
