Animated by an assertive desire to promote digital inclusion, intensifies its efforts to make a real digital transformation by 2030. Fiber optics, 5G, mobile internet, boom in startups, development of outsourcing … The kingdom invests in all fronts to make digital a strategic lever, technological sovereignty and job creation, summarizes the magazine Challenge.

Citing data from the Department of Digital Transition, the weekly specifies that Morocco aims to pass the number of households eligible for fiber (FTTH – Fiber to the Home) from 1.5 million in 2022 to 4.4 million in 2026. By 2030, this figure should reach 5.6 million households, or reinforced coverage, contributing to resorb digital fractures territorial.

The of 5G, whose launch is scheduled for 2025, will constitute a major . This technology should make it possible to 25% of the population from 2026, by facilitating the extension of very high-speed mobile speed, especially in dense urban areas and strategic economic basins, we read.

The number of Internet subscribers continues to grow at a sustained pace. In 2024, an increase of 5% was recorded, after an increase of 7.6% in 2023. The overall subscriber park amounts to 40.2 million, which brings the penetration rate to 109.2%, against 103.4% the previous year and only 71.3% in 2019. This increase testifies to the generalization of digital access throughout the territory.

Mobile telephony, on the other hand, has an impressive performance. The number of subscribers now reaches 58.3 million, up 4.3% in one year. The penetration rate exceeds 158%, reflecting both the multiplication of multi-SIM subscriptions and the massive adoption of digital mobile services.

Although more stable, the fixed telephony segment continues its growth. In 2024, the park increased by 5.7%, after +8.7% in 2023. This maintenance is explained by a continuous demand in the professional and administrative sectors, even if the dynamism remains behind compared to the mobile internet or the fiber.

The Morocco Digital 2030 initiative plans to considerably strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The country aims at a multiplication by almost eight of the number of labeled startups, from 380 in 2022 to 3,000 in 2030. To support this ambition, the government intends to bring the funding dedicated to innovation from 330 million to 7 billion dirhams by the end of the decade. This financial effort aims to offer a fertile ground to local innovation and to stimulate national technological competitiveness.

Finally, Morocco intends to triple the size of the outsourcing sector, by passing its turnover from 13 to 42 billion dirhams by 2030. This development could generate some 170,000 jobs, bringing to 300,000 the total number of positions in this strategic sector, which benefits from growing demand internationally.
