Difficulty recruiting personnel that must be paid more since the COVID crisis, inflation of products and equipment, impact of telework on noon tables … Several reasons can explain the increase in prices in restaurants observed in the past two years. Inflation that some restaurants sometimes have trouble assuming, like The Danish which does not display the prices of its dishes on its outdoor panel. Fortunately, there are still a few addresses (apart from friederies, kebabs and pizzerias) which remain under this floor while retaining a very attractive value for money.

We run there on the week, on noon time, to eat various, varied and quality dishes there, with a fairly supplied drinks. It is one of the good places to eat fast and well at noon and especially at low prices. There are the traditional and very good (two) 14 € balls. But also dishes of the day at 16 € for a salad or € 18 for half a nozzle grilled with tarragon, a poultry skewer, a sauté of old-fashioned mustard veal or gratin chicoons. The menu changes according to the mood of the chef. The plus? It is an inclusive company that makes a very nice team work also welcoming people with a slight handicap.

At Yara – Syrian flavors
It is a well -known brand … of those who know. A few years ago, Yara and Yasar, a brother and a sister, fled the war in Syria and opened this modest restaurant on the edge of the Saint-Michel island. The gourmets quickly found themselves there around falafel trays, small specialties to share (€ 12) and other mezzes, various plates with chicken skewers, salad … accompanied by the famous house spicy smoke (16 €).

Le Veneto – Cantine Italienne
For more than half a century (since 1949), the place has lived as a kind of Italian canteen where the choice between the dishes was limited, but where the very democratic prices broke a lot of regulars with various socio-cultural profiles. At the beginning of 2020, Veneto was resumed after prevailing work to essential standards, but keeping the spirit of the place and well -made cuisine as at home. The card offers, for example, rosbeef or veal roast with fries at € 18. But also good ragu pasta/ Burrata/ sage butter tomato and bone ham,… at 16 €.

The trattoria
It is a small modest place but where the kitchen is made with heart and passion. The products are quality and delicious. The bourgmestre and Liège policies have successively seated. Pasta (€ 9), tasty Arancini and gourmet walk -in sandwiches … Everything is homemade with products directly imported from Italy. We also eat the real Carbonara spaghetti (10 € 50).
