On the program for this Saturday, May 10, 2025: “The nephew of Rameau” by Diderot with Claude Gisbert and Philippe Penguy of the company Les Tréteaux Bleus – Paris.
Synopsis: Around 1760 in Paris, in a cabaret where chess is played, a philosophical and sparkling dialogue on morality, art, education and manners engaged between Diderot and a cynical and braillard bohemia: Jean-François Rameau, fallen nephew of the great composer Jean-Philippe Rameau. Diderot is fascinated by this character composed “of height and baseness, common sense and unreason”, delivered from his abjection by the pride that he derives from it.
The two men oppose almost in all, particularly on education and customs … The conversation revolves around an ideal, brilliant and twirling society. The spectator is invited to situate himself in this gap.
Show from 12 years old, Saturday May 10 at 8:30 p.m. at CAC Jean Glavany.
