Four years later “An Andalusian guide», Simohammed Fettaka comes back to Comptoir des Mines Galerie with a personal exhibition entitled “Drifts». An inner and critical journey where the artist deploys his vision of the with gravity, freedom and irony.

It is an expected and deeply stimulating return offered by Simohammed Fettaka until July 15 in . With “drifts”, the artist invites the public to navigate between the clarity of childhood and the mists of disenchantment, between the game and the social criticism, the poetry and the policy. His approach, always as elusive as it is coherent, questions the established forms of representation, both aesthetically and ideologically.

Since the start of her career, Fettaka has been distinguished by a transversal approach, which has combined thevisual artthe videothe sonthe photographyand the movie theater experimental. Graduate of theSummer university of The Thigh (National School of Image Trades and its), he followed a master in Arts et Policies to theParis Institute of Political Studies. He nourishes his with a constant reflection on images, their power and their limits. “Drifts” prolongs this critical work by attacking received ideas, diverting signs, breaking the frames. Through collages, installations And other devices, the artist offers flight points as much as confrontations.

At the heart of this exposition A reflection unfolds on perception and its distortions. Nothing is frozen, everything can be replayed, overturned, moved. Fettaka claims a subjective and voluntarily unstable look at the world, as if to better question certainties. It thus pushes art to its limits: those of the narration, . He diverts objects, challenges the symbols, summons the off-champ to enrich or contradict the image.

But under the apparent lightness of the forms is a deep gravity. The game, omnipresent in “drifts”, is never free: it becomes an outlet in the face of pessimism, a tool of resistance to standards. In this exhibition there is an assumed nostalgia for childhood, not as a refuge, but as a starting point for a free, intuitive thought, freed dogmas.

Founder in 2008 of Nachia Cinema Festival With the Cinema of TangerSimhammed Fettaka has established itself as a figure in the artistic scene and international. His video “The Greatest Show On EarthHad received the Arte “favorite” price Creative In 2013. Since then, he has alternated film projects and plastic explorations, with the same conceptual and poetic requirement.

Exposed in France As abroad, Fettaka continues to trace its route without ever giving in to ease or effect. “Drifts” is both the mirror of a world in crisis and an attempt at a significant reinvention of reality. An invitation not to stop looking, to doubt, to derive.
