While his film “Sinners” has just made a good entrance to the box office, Ryan Coogler is already turning to his next project: a reboot of X-Files. The director, who relaunched the franchise “Rocky” with “Creed” in 2015 and adapted the comics “Black Panther” by Marvel on the big screen, is very enthusiastic about the idea of working on the cult series.
“I can’t wait to get back there,” he said in a recent interview with “last Podcast on the Left”, confirming that this project was “immediately the next” on its calendar. “Some of the episodes, if we do our job well, will be really creepy.” He announced.
Broadcast in the 1990s before being relaunched for two other seasons in 2016 and 2018, “X-Files” featured David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in the role of FBI Fox Mulder and Dana Scully agents, responsible for investigating paranormal activity reports.
Ryan Coogler says he discussed Gillian Anderson with his reboot project with Gillian Anderson. “She is incredible, we cross our fingers,” he said, explaining that the actress finished the shooting of “Tron: Ares” (which will be released at the end of 2025) the last time they had spoken.
“We will try to do something really great, guy, for real fans of X-Files and maybe find new ones.” He promised.
