The darling of a darling in New Brunswick is over, announces the chief physician-Hygianist, Dr. Yves Léger

A first hatching occurred in June 2024 in the Acadian peninsula, which led to the declaration of a hatching at the province last August.

During hatching, 1,029 cases of darling were reported, which represents the highest number of cases since the previous provincial hatching occurred in 2012. The most affected people were children aged 10 to 14, followed by people aged 15 to 19 and those aged five to nine years. Nine people had to be hospitalized during hatching, but no death was reported.

In total, 54,045 doses of the painting against darling were administered during this period, which represents an increase of 23 percent compared to the same period during the years preceding the hatch.

The darling activity is generally cyclical, and it increases every five to seven years. The disease is easily transmitted from one person to another, especially by the droplets from the nose, the mouth and the throat of the infected person.
