Artificial intelligence (AI) and clothing IT can improve the chances of survival of victims of a stroke (stroke), according to a Canadian study.

Researchers at Simon Fraser University, British Columbia (West) have placed sensors on more than 50 stroke survivors before using this data to generate movement models.

Research opens the way to the development of new techniques aimed at facilitating the rehabilitation of a victim of a stroke, explained Gustavo Balbinot, assistant professor in neurological rehabilitation at Simon Fraser University.

“These discoveries can also help those who have difficulty keeping their balance, such as those suffering from vertigo or a spine injury,” he said.

Professor Balbinot team has developed software that divides movement models into a three -second section. This software can detect a in the model, indicating a risk of falling, which can greatly harm a patient recovering from a stroke.

The objective is to manage to integrate clothing computers, such as smart watches, to help patients avoid making dangerous .

“The software can warn us that we place ourselves in danger and that it is better to sit for a moment,” said Balbinot, adding that “the algorithm can learn from time”. “The software can really learn what is good or bad for each person,” he said.

According to the study, published in the journal Clinical Rehabilitation, doctors will be able to interpret data so as to better inform their patients.

The next research will relate to the long -term use of these devices and their effectiveness within a varied population of patients, said study authors.
