The Puy-en-Velay golf course will welcome the French Open International of Pitch and Putt from April 25 to 27. The best world players will compete in this discipline of golf with reduced dimensions.
They will be 72 players to compete on April 26 and 27 on the Golf Golf Golf, on the territory of Ceyssac. Several champions are announced, like the Portuguese Hugo Espirito Santo, eight times national champion in his country. Spain will send its three best elements, Ortiz de Pinedo, Fernandez de Camya, Calzadillamangan. We will also find locals like Bernard Boudon, the most beautiful French progression in 2024, and Hope Alex Langrené.
A modern and fast sport
As soon as the Puy golf was created, in the late 90s, the site was planned to play Pitch and Putt, a discipline that does not exceed 100 meters away. Each player has two clubs and a putter. “It is a modern and fast sport,” argues Patrick Giraud, President France Pitch & Putt.
The Pitch and Putt has four golf courses in Haute-Loire, including that of Coutonzon in Bas-en-Basset which is completely designed for this sport.
A springboard for golf
This discipline, imported from England in 1999 by John Hudson, is also intended to be financially accessible, whether in the equipment or in the Green Fee, the price to access the green. “The Pitch and Putt is a formidable springboard for golf,” adds Dominique Tareriat, president of the Haute-Loire Departmental Golf Committee. “The Pitch and Putt is to the Golf what rugby at 7 is to rugby at 15,” compares Jacques Olagnol President of the Puy Golf Association.
On April 26 and 27, the 72 players will have three laps to win the Open International de France. It is at Puy that it happens and the public is invited to attend.
