Created in the Netherlands in 2009, Foot-Golf is a leisure activity but also of national and international competition. The French male team is also a double world champion and that of the female European champion.
Saturday, May 3 and Sunday 4, more than 150 players set foot on the new holes of the Soufflenheim golf course, transformed into 18 holes for football golf. In the presence of the Director General of the French Foot-Golf Association (ATFG), Romuald Pretot, and the president of the Foot-Golf association in Soufflenheim (AFGS), Thierry Laeuffer, champions of the discipline achieved prowess.
Among the participants, there were Camel Meriem, former French international footballer; José Guerra, former Racing player and second world football player in football and also the Alsatian Eric Hanss, accompanied by other members of the French team.
A subtle mixture of football and golf
On Saturday, the Marseille team almost seemed to play at home with an omnipresent sun and temperatures to make the French Riviera pale. On Sunday, the weather was again well Alsatian. Sochaux, Mâcon, Paris and Soufflenheim (between others) clashed during individual parts or in teams of two. All this in a serene and warm atmosphere, sometimes in absolute silence, where the shoots followed one another in a thoughtful and precise way, to drop the ball into the hole 55 cm in diameter.
The discipline requires concentration and extreme mental mastery. The field analysis also plays a lot in success. The outfit is also strict: colo for collar, Bermuda, high socks and sneakers (crampons prohibited). Given the enthusiasm aroused by foot-golf, the local association organizes initiation sessions and other events to discover the subtleties of the discipline.
