The last weekend in April, the Puy-en-Velay golf course hosted the Open International de France de Pitch & Putt, an official IPPA event. This event brought together excellent French and international players.
On Saturday, the 72 players, including 18 foreigners representing 7 nations registered, competed in two towers of 18 holes Strokeplay. From the first round, the tone was given: José Maria Ortiz de Pinedo (Spain) signed an impressive -8, followed closely by Arnaldo Parades (Portugal) with -7. Despite a sustained wind in the afternoon, the high scores continued, highlighting the quality of the plateau.
Sunday gave rise to superb duels, with serials and a total commitment of players. José Maria Ortiz de Pinedo won the tournament with 147 shots, in front of Tomás Ribeiro (Portugal, 150) and Noël Calzadilla Mangan (Spain, 151). Brigitte Olagnol (Puy-en-Velay) ranked first lady and 7ᵉ general.
The award ceremony rewarded the podiums as well as young talents from Puy-en-Velay, two promising young British players and praised the inspiring performance of Mathieu Mourier, Para-Golfeur.
Appointment is already made for a future edition in 2026.
