Stellantis has just made the first reimbursements

After months or years of struggle, the unfortunate owners of cars equipped with a defective Puretech engine finally see the end of the tunnel. Produced by PSA (now Stellantis), this three -cylinder petrol engine of 1.2l team of Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Opel models. In question, its overconsumption of oil and the premature deterioration of the distribution belt (which bathes in oil). In addition to the risk -related risks, maintenance and repair costs are sometimes staggering and the discount of vertiginous vehicles.

4,000 other files under processing

To contain the discontent and try to regain some confidence of its customers, the automotive giant has implemented several measures: buyout bonus, guaranteed 10 years and 180,000 km, and an online platform for compensation for the costs linked to this engine. The latter concerns the related to these defects on vehicles, having followed the maintenance , between January 2022 and December 2024.

To , 8,226 files have been submitted on the car manufacturer’s site and just over half (4337) has already been treated. “About 60 % of the customers of these analyzed files have been or will be reimbursed,” says the management of Stellantis. This represents 2,604 files.

The 40 % refused was essentially for the absence of monitoring of the maintenance plan and repairs outside the Stellantis network. The other 4,000 files are being processed.

A complaint with 883 people was filed in February

Note that consumers who present a file undertake at the same time to give up all legal proceedings against Stellantis. In February, a group complaint (883 complainants) was filed by lawyer Christophe Lèguevacques (Myleo) for “deception, endangering the life of others and deceptive business practices”.
