A real unleashing of violence. A municipal elected representative of a small town in Gironde was beaten on Saturday when he was trying to end an urban rodeo in the town, the Libourne prosecutor’s office said on Sunday evening. An investigation was opened.
The facts took place late Saturday afternoon: this Gauriaguet city councilor is aimed at “several individuals carrying out an urban rodeo”, asking them to “stop this activity”, writes the public prosecutor Loïs Raschel, in a press release.
The elected official had come to meet a “fifteen bikers”, on the ball-trap field of the town, after having almost been overturned by a motorcycle, a little before 6 pm in a village street, according to his words in the regional daily South West.
Struck with a metal object
The tone rises and the elected official is then “violently struck by one of them with a metallic object”, according to the magistrate. Once on the ground, he is then driven by “many shots” before losing consciousness, from the same source. The victim, who was then admitted to the emergency room, suffers from arcade, nose and right cheekbones.
The investigation was entrusted to the autonomous territorial brigade of Saint-André-de-Cubzac and to the Blaye research brigade. “Significant resources have been deployed to quickly identify the perpetrators of the facts,” said the prosecution.

In March 2024, Parliament adopted a law aimed at better protecting local representatives from violence. One of the flagship measures of the text is the alignment of sanctions with those provided for violence against the possession of public authority, such as the police.
