EOnly money and bronze, there is only one step, or sometimes 163,000 listeners. Rebuilt in third row by France Info at the start of the last school year, RTL this time resumed its second place, according to the figures for the mediamétrie published this Tuesday which relate to the period from January to March. Information radio, although increasing over a year (+126,000 listeners), does not reiterate its fall performance. As for general private radio, it certainly goes up the slope and returns above 5 million listeners (8.9 % cumulative audience). But its dynamics are less favorable: it remains below figures measured a year ago, down 325,000 listeners. Will the return to Jonathan Curiel’s fold will benefit the station? After less than a year spent the programming of its competitor France Inter, the one who made a large part of his career in the M6 group announced at the end of March to take the controllers of the RTL, RTL2 and Fun Radio stations.

The revenues of the public service make in any case always fly: far ahead, France Inter remains still and always the first radio in France, with its 7.2 million faithful. A very good score which his director Adèle Van Reeth, who underlines that “The last three waves are the best three recorded since the implementation of the mediammetry measure in 2002”.

A gloomy context

In any case, the leading trio is in a gloomy context for the radio media, which, with its 38.46 million listeners, continues its slow erosion (-264,000 in one year). Generalist stations, a little more fit in the last wave, again lose followers. RMC thus sees 100,000 listeners Su Run year move away. For here (ex-France Bleu), which changed brand in January with the hope of relaunching itself, it is the tumble: with 2.4 million listeners, it loses more than 400,000 in one year, and this although the polls Institute continues to also dedicate those who would not have been made to this change of name. This new habit to be taken, coupled with significant international news, can explain this desertion of the network of local radio stations France. It is now exceeded by Europe 1: the Bolloré group station convinced in one year 300,000 pairs of additional ears (2.7 million listeners in total), even if its progression seems to slow down (- 50,000 in three months). France Culture remains stable compared to the last wave, with 3.6 % cumulative audience, or 2 million listeners (+ 139,000 in one year), including 900,000 for the morning.

Musical radios, in full tumble last fall, limit breakage. If they lose 100,000 listeners in one year, they recover 300,000 compared to the November – December 2024 period. With 4.2 milliosn of listeners, NRJ thus saves furniture but still lost 200,000 listeners in one year. Unfortunately for nostalgia, the Eighties effect seems to have been short of breath, the station having gone from 3.6 to 3.3 million listeners. The rap, on the other hand, seems to be reclaiming the hair of the beast, Skyrock managed to return above the 3 million listeners (but still sees 100,000 faithful leaving in a year). For its part, FIP earns 71,000 listeners over a year, at 828,000. Europe 2 remains at the quay: the musical this time reached its lowest historic level with 800,000 listeners, losing 300,000 faithful. Last week, faced with catastrophic audiences, host Benjamin Castaldi announced his immediate departure from the station morning, where he had been officiated since September 2024.
