Audi F1 announces a reorganization of its internal organizational chart after the departure of the chief of the engine department.
Before officially entering F1 from 2026, Audi is internal internally with the adjustment of some key characters within different departments. Thus, Mattia Binotto becomes responsible for the Audi F1 project and will be responsible for global development, while Jonathan Wheatley will direct racing operations as a main team.

Christian Foyer becomes COO (Chief Operating Officer, chief of operations) at Audi Formula Racing GmbH. As manager of the Audi F1 project, Mattia Binotto will be responsible for development activities on the Hinwil and Neuburg An Der Donau sites, as well as at the future technical center in England.

Christian Foyer joined the Audi Formula Racing GmbH board (AFR), head of the Hybrid F1 Motopropulser Group on May 1, 2025. He will focus on operational processes in his new post of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Born in Aix-la-Chapelle (Germany) in 1977, this graduate engineer, specialized in combustion engines, has been working for about 18 years in operations and project management for various teams and manufacturers of F1. Foyer will assume operational responsibility of the domains previously managed by CEO Adam Baker, who leaves the project by mutual agreement.

In order to simplify hierarchical lines, the role of previous CEO will be deleted as part of this reorganization. Stefan Dreyer will continue to direct the development of the Motopropulser group in Neuburg as CTO and assume the new role of spokesperson for the AFR board.
Since the beginning of April, Jonathan Wheatley has been a main team and spokesperson for the Management of Sauber Motorsport AG. In close collaboration with Mattia Binotto, Wheatley accompanies and shapes the transformation of the race team. He focuses on the management of the race operations of the future Audi F1 team and represents Audi at the strategic forums of Formula 1 as a main team.
