Death of Josaia Raisuqe: A tribute will be paid to the Olympic Castres player this Saturday, what we know of the tragic accident at a level crossing

The Castres Olympique invites at a time of meditation this Saturday at 11 am at the Pierre Fabre stadium.

The 30 -year -old Fidjian of Castres Olympique, Josaia Raisuqe, in a tragic road on Thursday, May 8, 2025. His car struck a train on an early level crossing in the morning, near the Lévézou training center in Saix.

According to information from the Midi Dispatch, Josaia Raisuqe went to the training center but quickly left for his home by realizing that he had forgotten business. A few minutes later, around 8 am, he would have crossed the safety barriers of the level crossing and was then struck by the train. His vehicle was dragged over 200 meters by the TER which was circulating at around 100 km/h. Josaia Raisuqe died instantly.

An investigation is , technical and scientific investigations are carried out to better understand how the drama could have . The functioning of the level crossing is under study and the box of the train has been seized. The TER driver and his 21 passengers were not injured, but were taken care of in shock.

A moment of meditation this Saturday at 11 a.m.

The meeting of Saturday May 10, 2025, which was to oppose the Castres Olympique in Clermont-Ferrand on behalf of the 23rd of Top 14, was postponed. The Tarnais club, however, invites supporters to go to the Pierre Fabre stadium from 11 am for a moment of meditation in tribute to the Fijian player.

“We are in shock following the brutal death of Josaia. He was a boy radiating on and off the field which was a pillar of the Fijian community that we have at the club and to which we are very attached,” reacted the Castres Olympique by press release on Thursday. “He was a wonderful teammate, much appreciated by everyone, and the Castrais supporters who had adopted it. We send our sincere condolences and our thoughts to his family as well as to his loved ones.”
