Charlotte Cardin and Roxane Bruneau each receive three Socan prizes

This year, the par excellence trio of the Gala Socan is made up of Charlotte Cardin, Roxane Bruneau and the composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer. All three received three awards during this 34e Edition led by Rebecca Makonnen, who also paid tribute to Richard Séguin and Diane Juster.

It was at La Tohu de Montréal on afternoon, that this gala was held which marks the 100e Socan anniversary. In all, more than 100 trophies were given in 25 categories “to honor the creativity and excellence of songwriters, image music composers and publishers of Quebec and the Canadian Francophonie”.

Tribute

Indked in the pantheon of Canadian authors and composers, Richard Séguin received a tribute to music, notably from Luce Dufault, Jorane and Vallières, as well as a funny and touching testimony of Patrice Michaud.

The gala also paid tribute to Diane Juster, through Marie Denise Pelletier, who came to interpret her song This morning. The important parolier was then given the Excellence Prix of the hands of Yvon Deschamps and Rosary Archambault.

Other highlights, the Hip-Hop Muzion group received the very cultural imprint for song Let we ti-neg. Shah Frank, Waahli and Barnev reinterpreted it on stage.

Charlotte Cardin received three Socan awards on Sunday. In addition to that of the -songwriter, she was celebrated in the popular (-speaking) categories, for Feel Goodand popular songs ( -speaking), for Confetti.

Roxane Bruneau, and his collaborator, Mathieu Brisset, both received three awards in the Popular (Francophone) song category for their compositions Eye white everywhere et A bottle in the sea.

In all, 12 prizes popular songs were given during the gala, of which Display flight (The three agreements), Spring (Corials), Ensemble (Left Schneider), Fake Friends (Billie du Page) and Let you show shows (Fringing cowboys).

Music in the image

For his part, the Quebec composer of Chilean origin, Cristobal Tapia de Veer, was rewarded as a music composer in the image as well as for the music of the film Smile and the series The White Lotus.

The international prize went to Kaytranada, while the Fredz received the Revelation Prize. Salebarbes (Country Music), Souldia & Lost (Hip-Hop) and Dominique Son-Aimé (jazz music) are among the other recipients.
