It was a complicated month of April for the RC Lens, and that of May is not more simple. Lyon, Toulouse and Monaco will stand in front of the Sang et Or. Far from the European squares, Racing will have to set a new goal on this end of the season to finish the 2024-25 exercise with dignity.
Lyon, to redeem yourself
It is the soft belly of Ligue 1 that awaits the RC Lens after having completely derailed. Still within the point of the first place in the first place European (nine points in the sixth place), but far in terms of goal difference -20 for Nice and -2 for Lens -, blood and gold must find new objectives to finish the season well.
And the Artesians have found it all for the trip to Lyon: to buy the slap received by Auxerre (0-4). A mission that promises to be complicated in front of a Lyon team who plays big on this last month of Ligue 1. In the middle of the podium race, the Gones will make no gifts to the Lensois who must expect a muscular confrontation.
Toulouse, to stay in the top 10
During the first leg against Toulouse, the RC Lens did not deviate from its special rule of this season: losing at home (0-1). Will Still’s men will then move to the Stadium of Téfécé with potentially a goal in mind: staying in the Top 10. Because yes, Racing can still dive into the second part of the table – six points from the eleventh place. A trip to the pink city that could turn red.
The TFC no longer plays much either, far enough from the dangerous area. But, for the moment, the men of Carles Martínez Novell are on a series of seven games without victory. Perhaps an opportunity for Racing Club of Lens to stay in the first part of the table.
Monaco, to reconnect with home victory
It is surely the most important meeting of the three for a reason: it is necessary to redo Bollaert-delelis a fortress. With eight defeats in sixteen home meetings, the RC Lens should have in sight the desire to lay the first bricks of a stadium which could again tremble the teams that move to Artois.
But it will not be cake against Monaco who has a clear goal: to finish Dauphin from Paris Saint-Germain. A last meeting which promises to be crucial for the two teams. This month of May will not be easy for the RC Lens, but if it is positive, it could well put on the rails the blood and gold wagon towards the 2025-26 season.
