Sony Increases the recommended sales prices of consoles PlayStation 5 in Europein Australia and in nOuvelle-Zéland. The company justifies this new increase by “a difficult economic environment, in particular high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates”.
These price increases were officially confirmed in an article in the American Blog PlayStation.
Europe
PS5 Digital Edition – € 500 (no change with the standard PS5 with disk reader)
United Kingdom
PS5 Digital Edition – £ 430 (no change with the standard PS5 with disk reader)
Australia
PS5 Standard with disk player – AUD $ 830, PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $ 750
New Zealand
PS5 Standard with disk player – NZD $ 950, PS5 Digital Edition – NZD $ 860
Note that the price of the PS5 PRO and the standard PS5 with disk player remains unchanged.
After similar increases in 2022, the PS5 is now considerably more expensive in many countries compared to its launch price.
In Europe and the United Kingdom, the Digital PS5 now costs 500€/£ 430, or € 100 and £ 70 more expensive than its launch (as a reminder, in 2020, these consoles were sold at a price of € 400/360)
