Lovers of the little queen no doubt remember the Pinot turn on the Tour de France in 2023 and the Bardet turn in 2024. Will we witness a tribute to Jean-Louis Murat, during the 10th stage of the Grande Boucle, on July 14? It is the will of an unconditional of singer Auvergne disappeared in 2023. He is preparing a turn to celebrate the artist, at the Col de la Croix-Morand, during the Puydom’s stage between Ennezat and Mont-Dore. Martial Decoster, 54, is a coaster. He lives in Ghyvelde, near Dunkirk, in the North department. The fan has launched an online prize pool to finance the costs that will be used to prepare the turn. He explains: “The Tour de France is going this year in the Jean-Louis Murat region this year. He was a cycling enthusiast, there was no shortage of a step when the Tour passed in the Sancy. I had the idea of making a Jean-Louis Murat turn to pay tribute to him. He is for me the best singer-songwriter that French song has known”. If Martial embarked on this adventure, it is to finally pay tribute to the singer:“He left us two years ago. The Tour de France passed almost in front of his home. To my amazement, it had no echo on television. There was no tribute to Jean-Louis Murat that day. I wanted to make sure that we catch up a bit this year. This kitty is there to pay tribute to the singer ”.
Martial has already prepared everything to set up the turn: “From the day before the stage, we will come together at the Col de la Croix-Morand. We’re going to make a kind of bivouac. With the silver of the kitty, I will make a tarpaulin made with a portrait of Jean-Louis Murat, that we are going to put on the ground, so that it is visible from the helicopter. We will be present with Jean-Louis Murat t-shirts. There will be paint on the ground. In the evening, there will be a concert at La Bourboule, organized by the singer’s son, Yann Bergheaud”.
The Col de la Croix-Morand was not chosen at random: it is the title of one of the artist’s most famous songs. Martial hopes to bring people together on this turn: “I don’t know how much we will be on this turn. I have friends, knowledge that I met during various concerts that will come. To that will be added people I do not know. This is not a crazy challenge: it is the only way I found to harvest a little money for this tarpaulin. I am at more than 1,200 euros and it’s already not bad. I had a quote from a Belgian company. A tarpaulin the size of a central round of a football stadium costs 1,050 euros. I don’t want something too small. I want this to be visible”.
The northerner is an unconditional of Jean-Louis Murat: “I cannot tell you the number of concerts by Jean-Louis Murat in which I participated. By living in the North, I followed the dates in Lille, Brussels, Liège and Paris. My last concert dates back to December 2022, in Montreuil. I liked everything at home. When the album Cheyenne Autumn came out, in 1989, there was a clip that passed on TV. I heard the song of “the fallen angel”. I was 19 years old and I did not know Jean-Louis Murat. I turned my head towards the TV and I was stuck, both by the text and by music, or by voice. The next day, I went to buy the cassette of the album. She has looped on my walkman for weeks. I then appreciated the fact that he knew how to renew himself musically”.
He continues: “Jean-Louis Murat was a crazy bike. I had also offered him a book on Bernard Hinault. I know that lately he really liked the Belgian runner Wout Van Aert. He also had a lot of bike in his region. He was passionate about bicycle and sport”.
