Obliged to turn around, the Alréen cyclist Joël Le Berrigaud will leave on August 1

Joël Le Berrigaud started from Nantes on Monday April 28, to Perpignan via Hendaye by bicycle. But his second section of the relais de France turned short. A equipment problem forced him to around in Bordeaux. And there is no question of stopping there. He will leave on August 1 …

“I arrived in Bordeaux but unfortunately … Not without difficulty. These 500 km opened my eyes to the quality of my equipment, ”explains Joël who had to deal with several punctures. A frequent incident in cyclists. Except that there, our adventurer could not dismantle his tire because he was stuck on the rim. Fortunately “a madman like me stopped to help me”.

A tire problem

Following the repair, Joël notes that his tires are not adapted to the use he makes of it. As it rolls as much as possible on cycle paths, stony paths where it shakes a lot, the equipment, especially tires, is very stressed. So self -confidence takes a hit, stress is permanent, doubt and fatigue .

Joël decides to go to Bordeaux and abandon the adventure. “These journeys must be synonymous with pleasure, no galleys. Like the marathoner who must have good shoes, the long -distance cyclist must have the possible tires, ”notes the Alréan. But let his “followers” be reassured. Joël will resume his journey on August 1 with reinforced tires. “I do not give up my project. It will be back to better jump… ”concludes the cyclist specializing in long distances.
