Valérie Lemercier: “Love is different when you saw the other in pajamas”

What scene would you keep for his intensity, his emotion, or just the pleasure of having played it?

“I liked to bathe in the prohibited lake, with the swans which, moreover, have not fled! I water and I am the sign of fish (laughs). Conversely, the most complicated scenes are those where you kiss. It is very delicate, because you engage your body, its intimacy.”

This restaurant is the favorite of Valérie Lemercier in : “I’m going all the time”

You play a character who in love with a (Gérard Darmon). And you, what celebrity could have made you lose your means?

“Maybe Jeff Goldblum (” Jurassic Park “,” La Mouche “). I find it beautiful, attractive, well dressed. He has a little all the qualities. Otherwise, I was with Philip Seymour Hoffman (” Capote “,” The Master “), who left us. And I love Will Ferrell (” The legend of Ron Burgundy “). Crossed once in an elevator, in Sweden.

It is often said that love has no age. In your opinion, to love after 50 years is more beautiful, simpler, or just different?

“The people around me who fell back in love late radiated from a happiness they really measure. When you have little known before, or that you have lost it, this happiness becomes greater, more aware. I would not say that it is more or less authentic, but we no longer have the same imperatives. We no longer try to make , for example. We know that it is no longer the stake. Sometimes the beginnings are uncomfortable.

Before the film, you knew François Valéry’s song, “We love alive”, in 1989? The message seems to resonate hard today, right?

“Yes, and it’s crucial. If someone around me intends to end it, I would wake him up to dissuade him. The character of Gérard Darmon still has a lot to live.”

Does the reply “I would like to be by peace” raises, in your opinion, the difficulty of being famous while looking for a little tranquility?

“Not necessarily. Everyone can leave, everyone can isolate themselves. When you are an actor or , it is not like being king or queen, where you are scrutinized permanently. I have been a year that I had not given an interview. We can choose to disappear for a while, to be silent.”

It is often said that we no longer regret what we did not do than what we dared. What would you like to do, during your lifetime?

“Simply … Drive a car! I would like, really. I should pass the license. And also talk better . I tell myself that I would have to go into immersion, follow an internship. Maybe I could learn to drive in English (laughs)!”

Have you been inspired by personal experiences or stories to nourish this reflection on love and the urgency of living in the film?

“Not directly. But when you have sometimes lost a little taste for life or a form of freedom, or you have gone through great concerns, we measure what you have. I measure my luck. The is my health. Losing my job, it would be almost the worst for me. I love it deeply. I realize more and more than working makes me happy. But I never go back to the past.

If you were to give advice to the spectators after seeing your film, what would it be? Love yourself more, dare more, live without regrets?

“Maybe just listening to … and talking to each other. I find that talking to someone is still better than being alone in of videos or something else.”

If we had to rewrite the title of the film in sauce, what would that give? “Do we love alive by toast with a good beer and that it is happy”?

“(She bursts out laughing) I don’t drink so much beer, so no, it wouldn’t be that! On the other hand, my cute sin, it’s the gaunt of Brussels: rectangular, very hot, with homemade whipped cream and a scoop of . It makes me crazy. That is happiness!”

In the film “Palais Royal!”, You had offered us a queen as whimsical as they are unpublished. If it were to reign over Belgium, what would be its reform?

“Free waffles for everyone!”
