Criticized for participating in a controversial space flight, Katy Perry breaks the silence. She assumes her choice and thanks her fans for their support.
On April 14, Katy Perry, accompanied by five other influential women, embarked on a spatial flight aboard a Blue Origin rocket, the space tourist company of Jeff Bezos. If the stated objective was to promote the place of women in aerospace, the operation sparked an uproar.
Ecological criticism, accusations of “Marketing feminism“, and mockery on the duration of the trip … The reproaches were quick. The model Emily Ratajkowski qualified this initiative to “End of time bullshit”while Cécile Duflot, director general of Oxfam France, denounced an instrumentalization of feminism for “Blanch an anti-ecological operation”.
Katy Perry’s silence finally broken
Until now, Katy Perry has ended up expressing himself on the controversy via a message published on the Instagram page of a Brazilian fan club. The 40 -year -old artist, currently on tour in Latin America, has chosen to answer with franchise.
“Know that I’m fine”she first reassured, before returning to the wave of criticism of which she was the target: “I took it with grace and send them love (…) I know that the Internet is only a dumping ground filled with disrects.”
Despite the attacks, Katy Perry keeps the course and prefers to focus on the positive. She thanked her fans for their flawless support:“What is real is to see your faces every night. To see you sing my songs in unison. To read your letters and your nice words. All of this warmed my heart.”
