The 36th Night of the Molières Départage Monday evening The best shows and interpreters of the year at the theater, with the actresses Isabelle Carré, Laure Calamy and Marina Hands or the humorist Paul Mirabel among the candidates for the awards.
Organized at the Folies Bergère in Paris and broadcast in a slight delayed on France 2, the ceremony is led by humorist Caroline Vigneaux for the second consecutive year.
At the call of the CGT show, which denounces “drastic budget cuts” in the culture sector, around twenty demonstrators awaited Minister Rachida Dati near the theater at the end of the afternoon.
They chanted “dati resignation” and brandished a flag on which one could read “misery of culture. Freedom equality precariousness”.
Ms. Dati published in the afternoon a video in which she praises the “model unique in the world” of the French performing arts and salutes “the collective momentum” and “the talent” of artists and professionals in the sector.
“I know the fragility of places and artistic teams,” she added, assuring that her “commitment” was “flawless so that the budget of the Ministry of Culture dedicated to artistic creation for 2025 is completely preserved”.
“Culture (…) is a political choice and its absence would cost the Republic much more. And we were able to make it the observation: where radicalization and where separatism settles, the theater is systematically called into question,” she said.
– “Le Soulier de Satin” –
It is the play by Paul Claudel “Le Soulier de Satin”, directed by Eric Ruf, general administrator of the Comédie-Française, who dominates the nominations, in six categories. This-work-flow, reduced to seven o’clock, is appointed for the Molière du Théâtre Public or the Molière of the director in a public theater show.
“Coal in the veins”, of and staged by Jean-Philippe Daguerre, who tells the story of the black gules in the mining territories of Pas-de-Calais at the end of the 1950s, was appointed five times, for the Molière du Théâtre Privé and the Molière of the director in a private show among others.

For the Molière of the actress in a public theater show, are in competition Dominique Blanc (“against”), Marina Hands (“Le Soulier de Satin”), Isabelle Huppert (“Bérénice”), Dominique Reymond (“The English lover”) and Georgia Scalliet (“Les Falus Confidences”).
Philippe Torreton (“Le Funambule”), Xavier Gallais (“Dom Juan”), Vincent Guarantor (“Article 353 of the Criminal Code”) and Denis Lavant (“end of game”) are in the running for the Molière of the actor in a public theater show.
The humor of humor will have to decide between Bérengère Krief (“Sex”), Nora Hamzawi (“Nora Hamzawi”), Paul Mirabel (“out of love”) and Waly Dia (“One hour to kill”).
For the Molière of the musical show, four productions were selected: “Les Misérables” (Ladislas Chollat), “Pride and prejudices … or almost” (Johanna Boyé), “Punk.es” (Justine Heynemann) and “Life in real life” (Marie fortuit).
